August 17, 2015 - 12:30pm

Welcome to The Dean's List -- an Ed Dean-style look at who Florida's political achievers were (and weren't) in the last seven days. What you see here is strictly my opinion, not necessarily the editor's or the rest of the staff at Sunshine State News.

Central Florida might be as hot as Tatooine and as swampy as Dagobah but apparently the Force is strong at Walt Disney World. On Saturday, the Walt Disney Co. doubled down on its commitment to the "Star Wars" universe, announcing the largest themed-land expansion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Disney World and the Disneyland park in California.

GOP Senate Candidates Labor in Presidential Primary Shadow

David Jolly, Ron DeSantis, Carlos Lopez-Cantera, and Todd Wilcox

The Republicans running for Marco Rubio’s seat should be prepared to spend another six months in political limbo as the presidential race eclipses them.

The GOP presidential contest is dominating the attention of activists and primary voters, even more so with Donald Trump commanding center stage. Add in Florida-based candidates like Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio, a surging Carly Fiorina, conservative favorites like Ted Cruz and Ben Carson, making it harder for the Senate candidates to get much notice.

Hillary Clinton: I Love Snapchat Because the Messages Go Away on Their Own

Hillary Clinton was in Iowa Saturday and took the time to reflect on her most recent social media venture, Snapchat. Snapchat, a popular messaging tool, allows its users to "snap" photos and videos. After 24 hours, the snaps disappear forever.
