With businessman Donald Trump leading national polls and now ahead of the GOP primary pack in key states including Florida, former Gov. Jeb Bush, R-Fla., is relying on the last Republican to sit in the White House for help: his brother former President George W. Bush. 

Florida TaxWatch: Revenue on the Rise as Economy Improves

With General Revenue (GR) estimates now raised an additional $657.5 million for the next state budget, Florida TaxWatch noted this was a sign the economy is doing better.

Hillary Clinton Sinking in New 2016 Florida Poll

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is losing steam in Florida, the largest swing state in the 2016 general election, a new poll shows. Quinnipiac University released a poll of Florida voters on Thursday which shows Clinton, the favorite for the Democratic presidential nomination, underwater in the Sunshine State. A solid majority of those surveyed -- 55 percent -- view her as unfavorable while 37 percent see Clinton in a favorable light. 

Lawmakers Call for FAMU Board Chairman to Resign

As relations between Florida A&M University's president and board chairman reached a new low this week, lawmakers who are FAMU alumni called Wednesday for Chairman Rufus Montgomery to resign his post --- but he quickly refused.

Senate Minority Leader Arthenia Joyner of Tampa, Sen. Dwight Bullard of Miami, Rep. Mia Jones of Jacksonville, Rep. Alan Williams of Tallahassee and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum --- all Democrats and FAMU alumni --- called for Montgomery's resignation following months of conflict.

Senate OKs New Congressional Map; House Set to Review

Florida lawmakers crawled closer to striking a deal on new congressional maps Wednesday, though an official agreement hasn’t been reached just yet. There are only two days until the redistricting special session officially ends, and on Wednesday the full Senate took up an amended set of maps with slight differences from the original congressional base maps proposed before the legislative session began.
