For the second year in a row, Vice President Mike Pence will be making an appearance at the Republican Party of Florida’s (RPOF) annual Statesman Dinner. Pence will headline the annual fundraiser in Orlando next month, the party announced Monday morning.
Florida’s unemployment rate continued to drop to an eight-year low of 4.9 percent for the month of February. According to a press release from Gov. Rick Scott’s office, the Sunshine State’s unemployment rate plummeted from 10.7 percent in December 2010, shortly after Scott took office.

Gov. Rick Scott eagerly signed into law around $430 million in tax cuts Tuesday, including reducing cell phone and TV services taxes. Scott had pushed for $470 million in cuts at the start of the regular session in March -- and in spite of the hospital-funding pull on reserves, he nearly got what he asked for. The House and the Senate passed the cuts on Monday.
