Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who was one of the highest-profile Republicans in the state to endorse Donald Trump before his primary win in the state, is now catching heat for her ties to the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.
The most tangible furor facing Bondi concerns an Associated Press report about a donation she received from Trump "around the same time" her office was considering joining an investigation against the businessman's namesake university. Bondi eventually decided not to join the case against Trump's venture.

Florida Supreme Court Rules Part of State's Workers' Comp Limit is Unconstitutional
The state of Florida’s workers’ compensation system suffered another blow Thursday when the Florida Supreme Court ruled another part of the state’s workers’ compensation insurance system is unconstitutional.
In a 5-2 decision, the Florida Supreme Court struck down a law limiting payments to injured workers for two years, instead ordering that the payments for injured workers should last five years.
Barack Obama Endorses Hillary Clinton
President Barack Obama endorsed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for President Thursday afternoon -- a big boost to Clinton’s presidential ambitions as the presumptive Democratic candidate.
In a video released Thursday, Obama praises Clinton for becoming the first woman to lock up the presidential nomination in any major party.
Obama also says he is confident Clinton can get the job done.
“I know how hard this job can be,” Obama says in the video. “That’s why I know Hillary will be so good at it.”
Bilirakis Wants FTC to Battle Senior Fraud
Florida Republican Gus Bilirakis’ proposal to help the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) tackle fraud targeting seniors picked up steam on Capitol Hill on Thursday.
The House Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee approved the Florida congressman’s “FTC Robust Elderly Protections and Organizational Requirements to Track Scams Act (FTC REPORTS) Act.” The bill would require the FTC to be more transparent and draw up annual plans to to fight fraud targeting seniors.
Gwen Margolis Will Retire from the Florida Senate
After a distinguished 40-year career in public service, Sen. Gwen Margolis, D-Aventura, has announced she will retire from the Senate when her term is up in November.
The announcement came abruptly in a press release Thursday morning, less than four days after Margolis, 81, came under fire in media reports across the state for disparaging and racist references she made particularly about three of her five competitors in the SD 38 race.
