Nearly 8,000 people have emailed Gov. Rick Scott to oppose Rep. Charles McBurney’s judgeship appointment after the National Rifle Association’s called on its members to tell the governor McBurney is “unfit” to be a circuit court judge.

HIV Congressional Candidate 'Outs' Himself, but Why?

Bob Poe revealed in the video on this page that he is HIV positive. 

While I applaud Mr. Poe, Democratic candidate in CD 10, for having the courage to reveal this information on the one hand, there is another nagging part that asks the question, why now? 

Why, during a congressional campaign in which he is losing? Is it for free publicity? He sure as hell is going to get that. 

Is it for voter sympathy? If so, I'm not so sure this was the way to go. 

Florida Number One for Saltwater Fishing Jobs, Revenue

Gov. Rick Scott and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced Friday that Florida is the top state in the nation in revenue and jobs supported by recreational saltwater fishing in the nation.

This week, the U.S. House passed the “Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act” (PROMESA) with the Florida delegation splitting on odd lines. The bill from U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wisc., would let Puerto Rico restructure its $72 billion debt in return for more federal oversight of local affairs.
