On this matter of offering federal jobs to potential candidates to induce them not to run against Senate Democratic incumbents, this White House is drifting dangerously close to the falls.

Colorado's Andrew Romanoff has now confirmed that White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina trolled three federal jobs in front of him, if he would desist and not run against incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet.

Alliance for Retired Americans Backs Scott Maddox

The Florida Alliance for Retired Americans, a seniors' group, announced they were backing agriculture and consumer services candidate Scott Maddox, former mayor of Tallahassee and chairman of the Florida Democratic Party.

Scott Maddoxs involvement with seniors spans back to his days as mayor of Tallahassee, said Alliance President Tony Fransetta. Scott has a long history as an advocate for seniors, and his willingness to stand up for consumers will ensure that Florida seniors have an advocate on our great states Cabinet.

Two Republicans and a Democrat sparring in the 115th House District have posted impressive -- even jaw-dropping -- fund-raising figures at the end of the first quarter of 2010.

Christina Guhl, an education paraprofessional at Lancaster Elementary School in Orange County, was named the 2010 Florida School-Related Employee of the year.

No Tony Hayward at Tuesday Cabinet Meeting

When the Cabinet meets tomorrow and discusses the oil spill in the Gulf, Tony Hayward will not be there. The CEO of British Petroleum was invited to address the Cabinet, but the oil company told state CFO Alex Sinks office that Bob Fryar, senior vice president for BP, will be there instead.

Trucking Weight Limit Exemption Signed into Law

Truckers will soon be able to take to state and local roads with heavier cargo.

Gov. Charlie Crist has signed into law HB 1271, a measure that raises the weight limit for truck cargo from 80,000 to 88,000 pounds.

The law gives the Florida Department of Transportation and local governments the authority to issue permits allowing for the heavier weights on state and local roads, as long as truckers avoid certain bridges that cannot withstand the strain. The permits aren't for use on any interstate.

Sources close to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, the 2008 presidential candidate who has moved to Florida and has become active backing Republicans across the Sunshine State, said he will back three more Florida Republicans today.

Jeff Greene Takes Off the Gloves --Goes After Meek, Crist, Rubio

Alliance for Retired Americans Backs Meek

The Alliance for Retired Americans, a seniors advocacy group with 4 million members in the nation and 200,000 in Florida, announced it is backing U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, frontrunner for the Democratic U.S. Senate nod.

"Throughout his career, Kendrick has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for older Americans, said the Alliance in its endorsement. His leadership on issues such as fighting Social Security privatization and strengthening the Social Security and Medicare systems exhibits that commitment.
