Scott Maddox Tears Into Rick Scott and Adam Putnam

Former Tallahassee Mayor Scott Maddox, the Democratic nominee in the state agriculture and consumer services commissioner race, took aim at his Republican rival U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam at a media event in Tallahassee on Wednesday -- but also fired away at Republican gubernatorial Rick Scott.

Maddox said he watched the debate between Scott and Democratic candidate state CFO Alex Sink on Monday. It seems clear to me that Rick Scott wanted to turn his campaign and the campaigns in Florida to things in Washington, said Maddox.

Bailed-Out Florida Bank Sets IPO; Obama's FDIC Looks Bankrupt

BankUnited, the Miami-based institution sold by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., is preparing a stock offering this week.

The Initial Public Offering could embarrass the Obama administration because the FDIC last year sold the bank with $13 billion in assets for dimes on the dollar to a group of private-equity sharpies.

Now that those owners are set to parlay their deal for a $500 million payday in the stock market, questions will inevitably arise about the FDIC's actions. The rich get richer, thanks to your tax dollars at work.

NPA CFO Candidate Tom Stearns Burning Up the Campaign Trail

Tom Stearns, who is running for CFO without party affiliation, has been burning up the campaign trail to catch up with Republican Senate President Jeff Atwater and Democratic candidate former Rep. Loranne Ausley. Stearns, who formerly served as the president of the American Society of Public Administrators and as the assistant tax collector to both Hillsborough and Pasco counties, crossed the state in the past week to gain attention to his candidacy, hitting Tampa, Palm Beach Gardens, DeLand, New Smyrna Beach, Orlando, Dade City and Fort Myers.

Jeff Kottkamp Honors Air Force

While he has maintained a low profile since losing out to Pam Bondi for the Republican attorney general nomination, Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp was out front in honoring the Air Force in a ceremony at Cocoa Beach on Tuesday and was joined by Undersecretary of the Air Force Erin Conaton.
