Bernard Sansaricq Gets Newt Gingrich's Support

Republican congressional candidate Bernard Sansaricq, an overwhelming underdog to defeat Democratic U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, unveiled the support of former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a possible Republican presidential candidate.

"As president of the Haitian Senate, Bernard Sansaricq proved that his loyalty lies only to the people that he represents, said Gingrich. "I have every confidence that he will continue this tradition of holding others above self in his service in the Congress."

Rubio Weighs in on Clinton-Crist Attempt to Have Meek Leave Race

Republican candidate Marco Rubio, the front-runner in the U.S. Senate race, weighed in on Friday morning's Fox and Friends about the report that Gov. Charlie Crist, who is in the race with no party affiliation, and former President Bill Clinton tried to get the Democratic nominee U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek to drop out of the race to back Crist.

Charlie Crist's vote is for sale, and he's shopping it hard to the Democratic Party.

That's the upshot of overnight news reports that the independent Senate candidate keeps trying to push Democrat Kendrick Meek out of the race.

Whatever fellow triangulator Bill Clinton may have said to Meek in private, the goal, clearly, is to consolidate the opposition to Republican Marco Rubio.

Kendrick Meek: 'Was Never Dropping Out, Will Never Drop Out'

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Kendrick Meek denied on Thursday a Washington, D.C. newspaper report that he had agreed to drop out of the race and endorse independent Gov. Charlie Crist, but those conversations did happen, Crist asserted on national television Thursday night.

Kendrick Meek's Team Pushes Back Against Report He Was Close to Ending Senate Bid

U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, the Democratic nominee in the U.S. Senate race, is pushing back against rumors and reports that Bill Clinton tried to get him to drop out of the race -- and almost came close to getting Meek to pull the plug on his campaign.

Meeks campaign manager Abe Dyk took aim at the article in Politico saying Meek almost dropped out.

BREAKING NEWS from CNN: Bill Clinton Tries to Get Kendrick Meek to Drop Out

CNN announced during Wolf Blitzer's "Situation Room" Thursday night that former President Bill Clinton spoke to Kendrick Meek earlier in the day, suggesting to the Miami Democrat that he throw in the towel in the U.S. Senate race.

Blitzer said Clinton believes Meek is mired too far down in third place in the race. He said Clinton told Meek if he drops out, it will give independent Charlie Crist, in second place, a better chance to beat current front-runner Marco Rubio, the Republican.

Meek turned Clinton down, Blitzer said.

According to Sunshine State News' nightly tracking poll, in the U.S. Senate race independent Charlie Crist has lost 2 percentage points since the surveys began Oct. 13. Meanwhile, Republican Marco Rubio has padded his lead by 4 points and Democrat Kendrick Meek has picked up a point.
