Democrats Have Crist's Caucus Vote If They Throw Meek Under Bus

Charlie Crist's vote is for sale, and he's shopping it hard to the Democratic Party.

That's the upshot of overnight news reports that the independent Senate candidate keeps trying to push Democrat Kendrick Meek out of the race.

Whatever fellow triangulator Bill Clinton may have said to Meek in private, the goal, clearly, is to consolidate the opposition to Republican Marco Rubio.

In pledging to caucus with Senate Democrats, Crist figures Democrats will throw Meek under the bus. That hasn't happened yet -- Meek is still stuck in the back of the bus -- but the ongoing speculation is just enough to keep Crist as a relevant topic of conversation.

Of course, Crist proved himself to be totally disingenuous (again) by telling David Gregory at this week's debate that he had made no decision on whom to caucus with.

"I will ask (each party) what they are going to do for Florida," Crist told Gregory with a straight face. If "Crist" is synonymous with "Florida," then that's about right.
