Connie Mack Bashes Obama on Economy and Debt

This week, supporters of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney have been bashing President Barack Obama for broken promises. U.S. Rep. Connie Mack, the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, went to bat for Romney on Tuesday, hammering Obama on the economy and the national debt.

Administrative Challenge to Voting Rules Filed

Sen. Arthenia Joyner and a pair of voting-rights organizations have filed an administrative challenge to the state's decision to push ahead with a new elections law in 62 of Florida's 67 counties.

The filing, which the groups announced Monday, is the latest chapter in an ongoing legal saga over who will be allowed to vote in the state's elections and what the rules will be for casting ballots.

Pam Bondi: Glaxo Agrees to $56 Million for Florida

On Monday it was reported that Florida will receive $56 million as part of a record-setting $3 billion federal-state settlement by drug maker GlaxoSmithKline to resolve criminal and civil charges that included marketing antidepressants for approved uses.

I am proud to say that this agreement makes Florida whole for the deceptive practices that misled consumers and defrauded the Medicaid program out of money, Attorney General Pam Bondi stated in a release.

Florida May Restart Search for Noncitizen Voters

The next step in Floridas struggle with the federal government over how to find non-U.S. citizens among the list of registered voters will come out later this week.

And that could mean the effort to check for noncitizens is restarted.

But dont expect county elections officials to immediately go along -- at least, not until the state can do a better job of backing up claims that an individual shouldnt be registered as a voter.

Attorney License Suspended for Ex Alcee Hastings Aide

Among the nine attorneys to have their legal license suspended last month by the Florida Supreme Court was Mikel David Jones, a former aide to U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Miramar.
