Rick Scott’s Legislative Affairs Director Returning to Rutledge

Jon Costello, Gov. Rick Scotts legislative affairs director since January 2011, is going back to Rutledge, Ecenia & Purnell PA, where he will once again lead the governmental affairs practice.

"We are extremely excited that Jon is returning to the firm to lead the governmental affairs practice," Gary Rutledge, the firms president, stated in a release.

Legislators to Address Florida's Future Water Resources at Orlando Forum

The future of Floridas water supply will be on tap at the 2012 Florida Water Forum Thursday at the Renaissance SeaWorld in Orlando.

The third annual Florida Water Forum, hosted by Associated Industries of Florida and the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association, will center on upcoming legislation involving water resources, the restructured water management districts and the states battle with the federal government over the numeric nutrient criteria.

Poll: No Second Term for Obama based on Job Performance

On the heels of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, the majority of voters polled told The Hill that President Obama doesnt deserve a second term.

The poll of 1,000 likely voters, conducted Sept. 2 by Pulse Opinion Research, recorded that 52 percent of respondents believe the nation is worse off than four years ago, and that 54 percent say Obama should get re-elected based upon his job performance, The Hill reported.

Mitt Romney to Attend Presidential Fundraiser in Sarasota

Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney will be at a fundraiser in Sarasota on Sept. 20, the Republican Party of Sarasota announced on Monday.

The event is listed as an intimate gathering, with a $2,500 per person contribution, according to a release from Republican Party of Sarasota Chairman Joe Gruters.

The time and location of the event have yet to be announced, Gruters added.

And they are admitting that legendary actor Clint Eastwoods monologue last week, with an empty chair representing President Obama on the final night of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, may have been more than slightly eccentric.

In Tampa last week, GOP speakers and nominee Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, tried to use their nationally-broadcast platform to remind voters of the struggling economy and give them a reason to reverse course in hopes of turning things around.
