Wasserman Schultz Re-elected DNC Chair


After getting endorsed by President Obama last month, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, was re-elected for another two-year term as chair of the Democratic National Committee on Tuesday.

Today I proudly accepted the nomination to stay on as DNC chair -- to continue what we do best: out-work and out-organize our way to victory, Wasserman Schultz tweeted.

Florida Casinos Clock Dialed for 2014 Session

The clock will continue to slowly tick on the future of gambling in Florida, with the deadline now apparently set for the 2014 legislative session.

Will Florida re-up the Florida Seminole Compact, inevitably give in to the casino interests or simply allow each facet from the Miami-Dade casinos to the Panhandle pari-mutuels, to the greyhound and horse tracks, to the Internet cafes to remain regulated, or unregulated?

Adam Putnam Announces UF Panel to Discuss 500 Years of Florida Agriculture

The Florida Department of Agriculture announced today that Commissioner Adam Putnam, in partnership with the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, will host a panel discussion commemorating 500 years of agriculture in Florida on Jan. 24.

Florida Realtors: ‘Market Continues to Improve’

Florida recorded 15.8 percent more existing single-family home sales closed in December than in the month that closed out 2011, the Florida Realtors reported on Monday.

At the same time, pending sales -- contracts that have yet to be completed or closed -- for existing single-family homes was up 39.7 percent in a year-to-year match-up.

Statewide, single-family homes sold for a median price of $154,000, up 14.1 percent in the same time frame.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Miami, is Floridas most popular politician, according to the latest Public Policy Polling release.

At least, hes more popular than python hunter U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Orlando, or Gov. Rick Scott.

Bill Nelson begins his third term in the Senate at a 43-40 spread, decent numbers but also ones that suggest his overwhelming victory in November might have had a lot to do with voters having a pretty dim view of his opponent, Connie Mack IV, PPP stated.

Another Day in Rick Scott Economy: 58 Percent of Florida Business Owners Are Optimistic

The Sun Sentinel reports on a new survey that shows that 58 percent of Florida business owners are optimistic that the health of their businesses will be better off after one year than they are today, this after 2012 proved to be a year of improved health for their companies.

The survey was performed byCPA firm Kaufman, Rossin & Co.
