On Monday, Scott highlighted the fact that the new budget doubles funding for the Quick Response Training program to $12 million. Frederica Wilson Has Major Primary Challenger in Michael Etienne

Michael Etienne is looking to move up the political ladder in 2014 -- but he has a tough assignment as he looks to beat one of the most established Democratic incumbents in South Florida.

Etienne, an attorney and a leader of the Haitian-American community, is known in Tallahassee for working as a legislative aide in the Florida House but he has been trying to advance his career by running for office. He was part of a crowded field of Democrats in 2010 who ran for the House seat Yolly Roberson held, but Etienne placed third.

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen continues to offer warnings about communist Cuba. On Monday, Ros-Lehtinen teamed up with fellow Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart and U.S. Rep. Albio Sires, the senior Democrat on the Western Hemispheres Subcommittee, to send a letter to Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta Jacobson demanding information on why a visa was granted to Cuban official Josefina Vidal Ferreiro.

With Rick Scott continuing to struggle in the polls, chatter keeps on coming that the governor could face a challenge for the Republican nomination in 2014. But if it's going to come, it likely won't be from Washington.

An old foe resurfaced last week to insist Scott could face a primary in 2014. Former Attorney General Bill McCollum closed the door on challenging Scott in the Republican primaries next year. During the 2010 election cycle, the governor defeated McCollum in a close and bitter contest.

With Frank Lautenberg's Death, Chris Christie's Senate Choice has Major Implications

Longtime U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., died on Monday morning at the age of 89. Lautenberg was the last member of the Senate who was a World War II veteran. Faced with a major primary challenge from Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Lautenberg had already announced that he would not run again in 2014.
