With revelations that sexual assault is on the rise in the military, Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan announced on Tuesday that he was co-sponsoring a bill with Ohio Republican Michael Turner and Massachusetts Democrat Niki Tsongas which prevents officers from overturning convictions for major offenses including sexual assault. The BE SAFE Act ensures any officer found guilty of rape, sexual abuse or forcible sodomy be dishonorably discharged.

Former Gov. Jeb Bush, who helped found a marketing company called Bush-el, has been named as a potential witness in an upcoming civil trial.
Bush-el briefly did work for a Deerfield Beach company, Moving Water Industries (MWI). The civil trial has to do with commissions MWI paid to Nigerian sales agents, according to multiple documents filed in the case.

As a long-time advocate for the protection of children, especially those who suffer from severe, life-threatening allergies, my organization, the American Lung Association, is very pleased the Florida Legislature passed, and Gov. Rick Scott signed, a bill that can provide life-saving measures for these kids.
