Only 3,500 Floridians have Signed Up for Obamacare Since Oct. 1

Successful sign-up numbers for President Barack Obama's new health care plan have been massively underwhelming since sign-ups began, with only 106,000 people successfully signing up for the health care plan since Oct. 1.

Only 3,571 people in Florida signed up forselected insurance plans in the new Obamacare health exchanges.

Vern Buchanan: Port Manatee Gains From Panama Canal Expansion

U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., the chairman of the Panama Caucus, met with Panamanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Fernando Nuz Fabrega on Tuesday to touch base on trade. The Panama Canal expansion, which promises to boost trade in Florida, is expected to be completed by 2015 and will double its capacity. There are estimates showing Floridas economy will grow after the Panama Canal expands with tens of thousands of new jobs being created.

Jeff Brandes Backs David Jolly for Congress

There was talk that Florida Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg, would run for the congressional seat left vacant by the death of U.S. Rep. Bill Young. Brandes quickly shot down such speculation early on but he has no intention of standing on the sidelines. On Wednesday, he threw his support behind Republican hopeful David Jolly.

RPOF Fires Back at Charlie Crist For Comparing Rick Scott to Al Capone

After lashing out at Gov. Rick Scott on Tuesday night, comparing him to Al Capone, former Gov. Charlie Crist is drawing fire from the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF). Despite his many years in Florida politics as a Republican, Crist is now the front-runner for the Democratic nomination to challenge Scott in 2014.

Charlie Crist: Rick Scott is 'like Al Capone'

The fur is flying between candidates as the governor's race heats up.

Former Gov. Charlie Crist held a fundraiser Tuesday evening at his sister's home, where he wasted no time laying into Gov. Rick Scott and his record in the private sector.

According to a report from the Tampa Bay Times, Crist brought up Scott's involvement in the private sector, where he became the leader of the Columbia/HCA hospital chain that paid a $1.7 billion fine for Medicare fraud. In one deposition in particular, Scott invoked the Fifth Amendment 75 times.
