Only 3,500 Floridians have Signed Up for Obamacare Since Oct. 1

Successful sign-up numbers for President Barack Obama's new health care plan have been massively underwhelming since sign-ups began, with only 106,000 people successfully signing up for the health care plan since Oct. 1.

Only 3,571 people in Florida signed up forselected insurance plans in the new Obamacare health exchanges.

A quarter of the sign-ups came from the glitchy Healthcare.gov website, which is used by 36 states. Therest enrolled in the 14 states and Washington, D.C., that are running their own enrollment system, most of which are generally operating much more smoothly than the federal site.

The figuresinclude people who have selected a health plan, whether or not they have actually paid for it.

The numbers are the first official look at the damage caused by the technical malfunctions of the health care website. According to Politico, only 744 people per state, on average, enrolled in the 36 states relying on HealthCare.gov compared to an average 5,293 people in the states that built their own enrollment systems.

Experts said there were improvements made to the health care website and assured that more improvements would be on the way in the coming weeks, but warned the website will not be perfecton Nov. 30, the date the Obama administration has promised it would be running smoothly for most users.
