Marco Rubio Wades into Iowa, Backs Joni Ernst for Senate

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., a possible candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, is wading into Iowa, the state that traditionally holds the first caucus to kickoff the long procession of contests which determines the nominee. Rubio announced on Monday his Reclaim America PAC is backing Joni Ernst for the Republican nomination to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Ia.

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen Backs Carlos Curbelo to Challenge Joe Garcia

Even as former U.S. Rep. David Rivera, R-Fla., starts his bid for a rematch with U.S. Rep. Joe Garcia, D-Fla., his former colleague U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., threw her weight behind Miami Dade School Board member Carlos Curbelo in one of the most competitive congressional races in the nation. Ros-Lehtinen endorsed Curbelo on Sunday morning when she appeared on Facing South Florida on CBS4 and she explained her rationale on Tuesday.

Will Weatherford Endorses Danny Burgess

Monday was a day of endorsements for House Speaker Will Weatherford, who added Danny Burgess's name to the list of House candidates he's supporting in 2014.
Burgess, who currently serves as mayor of Zephyrhills, will be running to represent Florida's 38th District, which covers Pasco County. The seat will be vacated by Weatherford, who faces term limits.

Readers hoping to kick off their summer by picking up the tell-all biography of former Republican Party of Florida chairman Jim Greer may be sorely disappointed, as the book could be delayed an extra five weeks to coincide with Greer's July release from prison.
The novel, written by Peter Golenbock, details Greer's service as the chairman of the RPOF from 2006-2010.
