A new chapter in the battle between the National Rifle Association and the Florida Sheriffs Association developed on Tuesday, with a new email from former NRA president Marion Hammer cranking up the heat on the FSA over a bill sponsored by Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg, that died during the 2014 legislative session.

Rick Scott Recognizes May 6-12 as Florida Nurse Week
Nurses across Florida will be celebrating Florida Nurses week beginning Tuesday, with Gov. Rick Scott issuing the following proclamation to recognize nurses and their services in the Sunshine State.

National Democrats continue to double down on retired Col. Ed Janys bid against U.S. Rep. David Jolly, R-Fla., despite running with no party affiliation. Despite Jolly holding a swing seat and beating Democrat former state CFO Alex Sink by less than 2 percent in a special election in March, Democrats failed to get a candidate on the ballot for November. Jany had been a Republican but moved over to the Democrats last fall, not soon enough to be his new partys candidate in November.

RPOF Ad Recalls Crist Calling for Clinton's Resignation
The Republican Party of Florida is running an ad on Miami television stations in the wake of Bill Clinton's visit to South Florida for a fundraiser for the Democratic Governors Association on Tuesday.
The TV ad recalls when former Gov. Charlie Crist called for the formerpresident to resign while Crist was running for U.S. Senate in 1998 against Sen. Bob Graham.
The video could possibly make things a little awkward between Crist and Clinton.

On Tuesday, Gov. Rick Scott announced information technology company Gartner will be expanding again in Fort Myers, creating 400 jobs in the next five years.
Gartners expansion, creating 400 more jobs in Fort Myers, is great news for Florida families, Scott said. Gartner considered moving to other states, but chose Florida because of its perfect climate for business. Florida has created more than 563,000 private-sector jobs since December 2010 and we are thrilled that Gartner is creating even more opportunities for families in our state to succeed.

With former President Bill Clinton coming to Miami Beach for a fundraiser for the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) on Tuesday night, the Republican Governors Association offered a reminder that former Gov. Charlie Crist, the favorite for the Democratic nomination to challenge Gov. Rick Scott in November, has had harsh words in the past for the former president. Back when he was running for the U.S. Senate in 1998 as a Republican, Crist called Clinton a liar and demanded his resignation during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
