Polls Show Close Fight Between Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum in Ohio

Newt Gingrich Appears Headed for a Win in Georgia

With the four major Republican presidential candidates battling it out in 10 states on Super Tuesday, Newt Gingrich is focusing on winning Georgia, the state he represented in Congress for two decades.

Gingrich crossed the Peach State in a three-day bus tour this week, and there are signs he is headed for a win there in Tuesday's primary. At stake are 76 delegates, which will be divided proportionally among the candidates.

The former congressional leader leads two polls of Georgia unveiled Friday.

Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney Battle it Out for Ohio

With 10 states on the line on Super Tuesday, eyes are turning to Ohio, where Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney are locked in a tight struggle and focusing their efforts.

Two polls unveiled Friday showed Santorum with a small lead over Romney, who has been gaining ground in the Buckeye State after his wins in the Arizona and Michigan primaries on Tuesday night. A third showed Santorum with a larger lead. There are 66 delegates at stake in Ohio which will be divided on a proportional basis.

While he had been behind Rick Santorum in the national polls, a national poll unveiled on Thursday by Rasmussen Reports finds Romney has recaptured a solid lead.

Former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts eked out a close win in Michigan over former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, but romped to victory in the Arizona Republican primary.

While Mitt Romney handily defeated John McCain in Michigan in 2008, two polls taken on Sunday show that this years Republican presidential primary Tuesday should be much closer.

Despite being born there and his fathers tenure as governor of the state, Romney tumbled in the polls in the Great Lakes State after he lost to Rick Santorum in contests in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri earlier in the month. Some polls even showed Santorum ahead of Romney by double digits.
