Polls Show Barack Obama Leading Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum in Ohio

Two polls unveiled on Wednesday find President Barack Obama ahead of the two leading Republican hopefuls -- former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania -- in the swing state of Ohio.

With 18 Electoral College votes on the line in the Buckeye State in November, Ohio is a crucial state for any Republican presidential nominee -- in fact, no GOP presidential candidate has ever won the White House without carrying Ohio.

Mitt Romney Putting Up a Fight in Rick Santorum's Pennsylvania

There are signs this week that Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is taking the fight to GOP rival Rick Santorum in his own backyard -- delegate-rich Pennsylvania. The Keystone State, which will bring 72 delegates to the Republican convention in Tampa come August, holds its primary on April 24 along with four other states in the region -- Connecticut, Delaware, New York and Rhode Island.

While Maryland and the District of Columbia also hold primaries April 3, Wisconsin is the largest prize of the three with 42 delegates to the Republican convention in Tampa. A Rasmussen Reports poll released at the end of last week found Romney leading there with 46 percent, followed by Santorum with 33 percent, Paul with 8 percent and Gingrich with 7 percent.

Louisiana, which will have 46 delegates at the Republican convention in Tampa come August, holds its presidential primary on Saturday and Rick Santorum appears to have an impressive lead in the Pelican State.

A Rasmussen Reports poll of likely Louisiana Republican primary voters unveiled Thursday finds Santorum ahead of the pack with 43 percent, while Mitt Romney places second with 31 percent. Newt Gingrich places third with 16 percent and Ron Paul trails with 5 percent. Five percent are undecided and 1 percent back other candidates.
