Republican Senate Hopefuls Fire Away at Bill Nelson and Obama

The three leading Republican candidates looking to challenge Democrat U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson addressed GOP women leaders in Tallahassee Sunday -- and fired away at Nelson and President Barack Obama.

The Republicans -- former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, businessman and retired Army Col. Mike McCalister and U.S. Rep. Connie Mack -- spoke to the Florida Federation of Republican Women in a packed room at Hotel Duval.

Sinking in Arizona, Newt Gingrich Reaches Out to Hispanics

Sinking in the polls at the national level and in upcoming primary states, Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich looked to appeal to Hispanics as he launched a new ad Friday targeting those voters in Arizona's Feb. 28 primary.

In the ad, four Hispanics attack President Barack Obama on a host of issues, including the economy and immigration, and praise Gingrich.

Ron Paul's Campaign Focuses on Pacific Northwest

While the other candidates for the Republican presidential nomination focus on Arizona and Michigan, both of which hold primaries on Feb. 28, U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas looks to make a breakthrough in two Northwestern states holding caucuses in the first week of March -- Washington and Idaho.

With 43 delegates at stake, Washington holds its caucus on March 3. Idaho, which has 32 delegates, holds its caucus on March 6, the same day nine other states hold primaries and caucuses.

Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney Battle it Out in Michigan

With the Michigan primary looming on Feb. 28, Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is looking to get back in the game in the Great Lakes State and catch Rick Santorum there.

Michigan should be friendly territory for Romney. He won the primary there in 2008, beating John McCain by 9 percent, and his father, George Romney, served as governor during the 1960s. Romney has played up his roots in Michigan, noting that he was born there, despite basing his political career in Massachusetts.

Newt Gingrich Looks to Bounce Back By Focusing on Gas Prices

Sinking in the polls at both the national level and in states that will soon hold primaries, Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich tried to rally conservatives on Wednesday by pushing his plan to reduce energy and gas costs for Americans.

Gingrich insisted to supporters that his plan could return gas prices to $2.50 a gallon and he ripped into President Barack Obamas record on the issue.

Rick Santorum Surges Past Mitt Romney in National and State Polls

Following his wins last week in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has propelled past Mitt Romney in the polls at the national and state level.

According to a national Rasmussen Reports poll of likely primary voters released on Wednesday, Santorum takes 39 percent, while Romney stands in second with 27 percent. Newt Gingrich stands in third with 15 percent while Ron Paul lags in fourth with 10 percent. Three percent back other candidates while 6 percent are undecided.

Bill Nelson, Connie Mack Tied, New Poll Reports

A poll released on Tuesday finds Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson will be sweating it out to win a third term in November.

The poll of likely Florida voters from Rasmussen Reports shows Nelson, who has been on the public stage for four decades, fails to break 50 percent against any of the three leading Republican candidates and is tied with U.S. Rep. Connie Mack, whose father held the seat for two terms before Nelson.

With Conservatives Defecting, Newt Gingrich Shores Up his Right Flank
