After 10 Glorious Years, Sunshine State News and I Are Passing the Baton

The National Federation of Independent Business/Florida has released a strictly Republican slate of state legislative endorsements for the November general election. These candidates priorities align with those of the small-business community, and were confident they will be effective allies to our members in the fight to create jobs and improve the economy, NFIB/Florida Executive Director Bill Herrle stated in a release.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will be raising money for the Republican Party of Florida in the University of Florida Hillel across from the Swamp prior to the 3:30 p.m. kickoff between the undefeated and 4th ranked LSU Tigers and undefeated and 10th ranked Florida Gators.

With a second departure from the governors press office, Jackie Schutz has been promoted from deputy press secretary to press secretary, a move that should please most members of the media. Also John Tupps, who had been a public information officer handling social media, has moved into Schutzs role as deputy press secretary. Tom Yu has also joined the staff for research and writing. Yu follows Melissa Sellers from the Republican National Convention crew in Tampa into the governors office.

Lane Wright, who joined the governors press office after working at the Sunshine State News, has taken a job with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, according to internal Capitol email. Lane Wright typed a farewell to a group of colleagues on Friday, announcing his new position which began Monday. Wright follows Brian Burgess out of the governors office. Burgess, who was Scotts director of communications, has taken a position with the Republican Party of Florida.
