Lane Wright Exits Governor’s Office for Disabilities Agency

Lane Wright, who joined the governors press office after working at the Sunshine State News, has taken a job with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, according to internal Capitol email.

Lane Wright typed a farewell to a group of colleagues on Friday, announcing his new position which began Monday.

Wright follows Brian Burgess out of the governors office. Burgess, who was Scotts director of communications, has taken a position with the Republican Party of Florida.

Burgess has been replaced by Melissa Sellers, a former communications director for Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and who served as the director of regional media for the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

Wright will now work under Florida Womens Hall of Fame member Barbara Palmer, named director of the agency by Scott in August.

Wrights email:

Dear friends,

It is time for me to say goodbye (or at least, see you around).

Serving Governor Scott as his press secretary has been the greatest honor, and greatest thrill, of my professional life so far. I cant believe how fortunate I have been. And I cant express how grateful I am.

Starting Monday, Ill be exploring a new role with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities.

Im grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the governor and promoting his efforts to help people get a great education and get a job.

I have been so impressed with the caliber of people this governor has been able to draw around him. I have loved getting to know you and hope our friendship can continue as we all move forward.

Please take down my personal number and email address and dont hesitate to call or write.

I wish you the best,

Lane Wright
