New Conservative PAC in FL
While the team at the Florida Family Policy Council has advocated for conservative issues, they have never directly entered the campaign arena -- until now. John Stemberger has announced that he will lead the Florida Family Action Pac to endorse and support candidates who share the organizations position against abortion and for traditional marriage.

DEP Updates Oil Spill Status
The Department of Environmental Protection today released Deepwater Horizon statistics and actions:
- Deepwater Horizon continues to discharge an estimated 5,000 barrels (210,000 gallons) per day.
- On Sunday, May 16, BP inserted a siphon tube into the leaking end of the drill pipe, allowing oil to be pumped to the surface.
- BP continues to evaluate numerous options to contain the oil discharge and is continuing efforts to drill a relief well.
- Winds/currents continue to keep the plume away from the Florida coast for at least the next 72 hours.

Florida May No Longer Be Out of Loop in Case of Oil Spill
Residents of the Florda Keys, fearing impact from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, might want to cross their fingers and toes.
Researchers at the University of South Florida say the oil from the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico is flowing toward the loop current that could bring it to the Florida Keys and the state's eastern shores, if it hasn't entered the current already, the Press Association of the United Kingdom reports.

New Poll Shows Bounce Over For Crist -- Rubio Leads by 8 Percent
Is the bloom off the rose for Gov. Charlie Crist? Rasmussen is reporting the results of a new poll taken on Sunday that indicates the governors bounce in the polls -- all from declaring his independency -- is over.
The poll shows 39 percent of Floridians backing Republican Marco Rubio, 31 percent for Crist and 18 percent for Democratic Congressman Kendrick Meek.

Crist Signs Appraiser Regulation Bill
Well, Gov. Charlie Crist has not vetoed every Republican measure that passed the Legislature. Rep. Matt Hudson, R-Naples, backed a law requiring appraisal management companies to register with the state Department of Business and Professional Regulation and places them under the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. The bill passed and now has been signed by the governor.

LeMieux Drills BP's Cap
Attorney General Bill McCollum said at the Cabinet meeting earlier this week that it was the governments job to hold BPs feet to the fire -- and now he is getting support from a fellow Florida Repubican at the federal level.
U.S. Senator George LeMieux has backed the Oil Spill Response and Assistance Act (ORSA) to raise the amount oil companies are liable for when there are spills like the recent one in the Gulf.

Catholic Families PAC Backs Rubio
Republican Marco Rubio's campaign for the U.S. Senate seat was endorsed by the Catholic Families for America (CFA) PAC.
"Among the several dozen candidates for the U.S. House and U.S. Senate whom CFA plans to endorse, Marco Rubio is at the head of the class," said Dr. Kevin Roberts, who serves as executive director of the CFA. "His substantive, traditional values message, coupled with his upbeat approach, is a welcome tonic to our toxic public square right now."
CFA backed Rubio due to his positions against abortion and gay marriage.
