Jeff Greene Launches New TV Ad on Jobs


Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Greene, who sent out a mailing this week detailing his jobs plan, released a new commercial over Floridas airwaves to reinforce his economic message. The commercial comes on a day where U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, Greenes chief rival for the nomination, appears stalling. A new poll released on Thursday morning by Rasmussen Reports revealed that Greene was doing better than Meek in the general election -- though still far behind likely Republican candidate Marco Rubio and independent Gov. Charlie Crist.

Breaking News: Tallahassee Judge Says Redistricting Amendment 7 is a No-Go in November

Amendment 7, pushed to the November ballot by Sen. Mike Haridopolos and others among the state Republican leadership, will no longer be up for a vote in November, a Tallahassee judge has ruled. The amendment had been crafted to balance out -- or oppose -- Amendments 5 and 6, which dealt with gerrymandering districts. Haridopolos says it was important to make sure minority rights were protected in the redistricting process.

Dwayne Taylor Proposes BP Fund Special Session


While more than a few members of the Legislature have urged Gov. Charlie Crist to call for a special session to deal with the oil spill in the Gulf, Rep. Dwayne Taylor, D-Daytona Beach, has added a twist to his call for one -- make BP fund the session.

I understand that calling a special session has financial obligations that this state may otherwise use for other budgetary items, wrote Taylor to Crist. To not burden our taxpayers, I suggest that we call on BP to pay for the expenses associated with calling a special session.

Kendrick Meek Raises $1 Million


U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek announced on Thursday morning that his campaign for the U.S. Senate had raised more than $1 million from more than 7,000 supporters in the second quarter of 2010.

Meek's camp is arguing that the fact that 85 percent of the donors gave $100 or less shows there is widespread support for its candidate.
