Republican presidential hopeful former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida came out swinging at the U.S. Supreme Court’s  King v. Burwell decision in favor of tax subsidies set up by President Barack Obama’s federal health-care law. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Anthony Kennedy sided with the court liberals on the 6-3 decision. The challenge to Obama’s law specifically focused on whether health insurance tax credits can be run at both the federal and state levels. The plaintiffs insisted only state exchanges can promote the tax credits.

While they haven’t been successful in their legal challenges to All Aboard Florida’s (AAF) plans to build high speed rail in the Sunshine State,  Citizens Against Rail Expansion (CARE) pledged on Thursday not to throw in the towel. CARE’s steering committee sent out a letter this week promising to continue the fight against AAF.

On Wednesday, Gov. Rick Scott showcased the start of scallop season on Saturday. The season lasts until Sep. 25. Last year, Scott asked for the season to start three days early so the last weekend of June could be included in it.
