AFP: Florida Headed in Right Direction on Health Care Despite King v. Burwell
Chris Hudson, the Florida director for fiscal conservative group Americans for Prosperity (AFP), insisted on Thursday that the U.S. Supreme Court’s King v. Burwell decision was not a game changer for health care in the Sunshine State.
“Six years after Obamacare was passed and the law continues to drive up health-care costs and restrict access to care,” Hudson said on Thursday, “the U.S. Supreme Court's decision today will not change anything. Fortunately, Florida is moving in the right direction on its own by passing real, patient-centered health-care reforms that expand choice and competition, and lower costs. AFP will continue to fight in Tallahassee for state-based reform while urging our members of Congress and President Obama to recognize that Obamacare is the chief obstacle to better health care for all Americans.
“States like Florida are leading the way in real health-care reform,” Hudson added. “It’s time for President Obama and Congress to repeal Obamacare and get out of the way."
