Ander Crenshaw Votes to Repeal Medicare's IPAB
U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw, R-Fla., joined House Republicans on Tuesday in voting to repeal Medicare’s Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) which was set up by President Barack Obama’s federal health-care law.
IPAB was created to “reduce the per capita rate of growth in Medicare spending" but Crenshaw and other critics insisted it gave too much power to the 15-man board instead of to patients.
“Patients must be in direct control of their health care, not a board of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats with the power to severely limit health care options for America’s seniors,” said Crenshaw. “The Protecting Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act takes a necessary step to turn back a one-size-fits-all approach to health care decision making and puts patients, their families, and their doctors back in the driver’s seat, exactly where they should be. It’s time for the Senate to make the same move and pass this legislation.”
