Recently, the entire uniformed leadership of the U.S. military was brought before the Senate Armed Services Committee on the subject of sexual assaults. A new poll finds U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is starting to become increasingly less popular with conservatives as he continues to be front and center on immigration reform. A Rasmussen Reports poll released on Monday finds 58 pecent of Republicans across the nation have a favorable view of Rubio -- down from 68 percent in a Rasmussen poll from May. Rubio is seen as unfavorable by 16 percent of Republicans while 25 percent are undecided. Rubio is expected to seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

Over the weekend, as the world wondered where Edward Snowden, the former CIA analyst who leaked NSA information to the press, is headed, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., ripped into the Cuban regime. Snowden was expected to be headed to Cuba but he was not on a flight to that communist nation on Monday.

Another name was added to the list of possible presidential candidates heading to Iowa to speak at the Family Leadership Summit in August-- businessman and reality star Donald Trump. Over the weekend, Trump announced he would be speaking at the event, setting off buzz that he could run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. Trump opened the door to running in 2012, generating a lot of publicity before he said he had no intention of running.

Senate Bill 1036, the Independent Living Act, will give the state jurisdiction over foster children in state care until they are 21. Interim dean of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, Heather Coltman, announced Friday that Deandre Poole had accepted a teaching position for the summer 2013 term. I understand this decision may not be popular with all members of the community, said Coltman, but it was based on months of thorough research and consideration.

Even though most Americans believe the exposure of the governments secret surveillance effort has probably hurt U.S. national security, not many of them believe reporters who reveal the information should be punished for it. An overwhelming majority -- 68 percent -- of Americans say reporters who publish leaked information they receive from whistleblowers shouldn't be punished for publishing the information. On the contrary, only 15 percent of American voters believe reporters should be punished for doing that.
