Dolphins Owner to Form PAC

Stephen Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins, is forming his own political action committee. Politico reported earlier that the billionaire and real estate mogul's PAC, Florida Jobs First, will be focusing on re-election efforts for Gov. Rick Scott in 2014.

Ross recently received media attention after a failed effort to overhaul the Miami Dolphins' stadium. Ross said Miami wouldn't win a bid to host the Super Bowl without significant revamping of the stadium, andblamed GOP House Speaker Will Weatherford for the failure. He claimed Weatherford lied to him and allowed the overhaul to die in the House without bringing it to a vote.

I am certain this decision will follow Speaker Weatherford for many years to come, said Ross in May, after the overhaul failed in the Legislature.

I will look to play an important role in fixing the dysfunction in Tallahassee and will continue to work to create good jobs in Miami-Dade and throughout South Florida.

Florida Jobs First will not only focus on re-election efforts for Scott, but it will also target incumbents like Weatherford all over the state during the next election, according to a source close to Ross.
