Rick Scott to Make Jobs Announcement Monday

Gov. Rick Scott will make a jobs announcement Monday at 2:15 p.m. in Jacksonville, according to a press release from the governor's office. Gov. Scott returned to Tallahassee Friday morning after spending a week in Paris for a trade mission.

Gov. Scott recently announced Florida's unemployment rate had dipped to 7.1 percent for May, which is the lowest Florida's unemployment rate has been since September 2008. The unemployment rate was 7.2 percent in April. The governor also revised the number of private-sector jobs created in April from 16,700 to 19,000.

Florida has created around 330,000 jobs in the last two years.

"Each month we continue to distance ourselves from the national unemployment rate and it is clear we are succeeding in growing opportunities for Florida families to pursue the American dream," said Gov. Scott on Friday. "Once again, Floridas unemployment rate is well below the national average. While Florida communities have experienced some incredible successes, well continue working tirelessly to provide jobs to families across the Sunshine State."
