Donald Trump Heads to Iowa to Ramp Up the 2016 Talk

Another name was added to the list of possible presidential candidates heading to Iowa to speak at the Family Leadership Summit in August-- businessman and reality star Donald Trump. Over the weekend, Trump announced he would be speaking at the event, setting off buzz that he could run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. Trump opened the door to running in 2012, generating a lot of publicity before he said he had no intention of running. Back in 2000, Trump did much the same thing, hinting he was considering running for the Reform Partys nomination before deciding against running.

Despite Trumps record of social liberalism, prominent Iowa conservative Bob Vander Plaats, the president and CEO of the Family Leader, welcomed him to the Hawkeye State.

We are thrilled to confirm Mr. Trump as a featured speaker at our Leadership Summit, Vander Plaats said. Mr. Trump is internationally known and respected for his leadership. His boldness and clarity on the fiscal issues threatening Americas families will educate our audience. His solutions to righting the ship regarding international trade and, especially, our relationship with China will inspire all attendees. The fact that he has chosen our summit for his inaugural appearance to Iowa is an honor.

I am very much looking forward to coming to Iowa in August to speak at the Family Leadership Summit," Trump said. I have the greatest respect for all the groups represented and the values they stand for, and this will be a wonderful opportunity to share my vision for America with them. I also have a great friendship and respect for Bob Vander Plaats and look forward, as well, to being with him and his family on this important day.

Looks like America can expect another performance of Hamlet on the Hudson from Trump -- a repeat of 2012 when he publicly pondered to run or not to run.
