On Friday, U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross, R-Fla., introduced a bill which would require the FBI to investigate specific groups or individuals and forces the NSA to limit collecting information to groups and people being investigated. Ross made it clear that his bill, which he dubbed the Relevancy Act, was a response to the FBI ordering Verizon to send all its caller information over to the NSA,

U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., who represents much of the Panhandle in Congress, weighed in on the IRS giving out bonuses to employees despite the current scandals swirling around the agency. Miller sent out a message to constituents last week in which he slammed the IRS:

Gay marriages can resume in California. The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals lifted its stay onaninjunction which ordered California state officials to stop enforcing Proposition 8. With this court action, counties in California can now begin issuing same-sex marriage licenses.

Tuition may be rising across the country, but Florida universities are still among the most affordable four-year colleges with some of the lowest tuition rates in the entire country. Nineteen Florida College System (FCS) universities made the list, which was created by the U.S. Department of Education's College Affordability and Transparency Center.

Hispanic voters waited the longest in November 2012 in Florida, according to a statewide study. The study was conducted by political scientists at Dartmouth University and the University of Florida and found a greater proportion of Hispanic voters closed later on Nov. 6 than precincts with predominantly white voters. Blacks had waits in some cases, but these were shorter than Hispanics.Black voters also waited for longer than white voters did.

Gov. Rick Scott announced Friday that he had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gulf Consortium to create a process to develop Floridas State Expenditure Plan for RESTORE funding. The RESTORE Act creates the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council, and will establish various funding categories. The RESTORE Act will be funded by Clean Water Act civil and administrative penalties paid by responsible parties from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill that heavily damaged the ecosystem of the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has come a long way since 2009, when he explained he had nothing but contempt for those who leaked classified information to news sources. Snowden used the online handle "TheTrueHOOHA" to speak out in a chat in 2009 after a New York Times article detailed secret negotiations between the U.S. and Israel in regard to Iran's suspected nuclear weapons program.
