Lenny Curry, the chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, had kind words for newly inaugurated Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera on Monday.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce backed David Jolly, the Republican running in a special congressional election, on Monday. Jolly takes on former state CFO Alex Sink, the Democrat in the race, and Libertarian Lucas Overby in the special election on March 11.

Former Gov. Charlie Crist drew the fire of Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) Chairman Lenny Curry on Monday. Despite spending most of his political career as a Republican, Crist is the favorite for the Democratic nomination to challenge Gov. Rick Scott in November. Curry sent out a memo on Monday bashing Crist, whose memoir comes out on Tuesday. Curry wrote:

Carlos Lopez-Cantera will officially be sworn in as Florida's 19th lieutenant governor on Monday. Gov. Rick Scott announced Lopez-Cantera's appointment to the position in January after it had been vacant for over 10 months. Former Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll resigned from the post in March 2013 after being interviewed by law enforcement officials about work she did for a charity that prosecutors said was a front for a gambling ring.

With state Senate Republican leader Lizbeth Benacquisto planning to announce her candidacy for Trey Radel's seat in Congress, Chauncey Goss announced Monday morning he does not intend to run to replace Radel. According to News Press, Goss says he "has too many business obligations -- he has his own consulting business that helps clients with federal budget issues -- and family considerations to join the race for Congress."

Pro-life leaders are calling for a boycott of buying cookies from the Girl Scouts this year due to their ties to Planned Parenthood and pro-choice leaders. Steven Ertelt, the editor of LifeNews.com, sent an email out to supporters on Sunday noting several prominent pro-life groups," including his organization, have launched a national boycott of the Girl Scouts and sales of their Girl Scout cookies this season"

Responding to constituents on Saturday, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., had harsh words for President Barack Obamas plans to rely on executive orders if he cant get his agenda through Congress. In the State of the Union address last week, Obama said he would not hesitate to use executive orders if Congress does not pass his agenda.

Florida TaxWatch weighed in on Monday morning, praising Gov. Rick Scotts proposed $74.2 billion proposed budget. "I commend Governor Scott for including many cost-savings recommendations from Florida TaxWatch," said Dominic Calabro, the president and CEO of Florida TaxWatch. "By increasing efficiency in state government and offering significant tax cuts, this budget shows his commitment to Florida taxpayers."

Charlie Crist isn't the only Democratic candidate in the run for governor this year. Crist's Democratic rival,former state Sen. Nan Rich, is making her rounds with robo calls against the former Republican, calling Crist an enemy of women's reproductive rights.
