WASHINGTON -- A supremely important presidential issue is being generally neglected because Democrats have nothing interesting to say about it and Republicans differ among themselves about it. Four Supreme Court justices are into the fourth quarters of their potential centuries -- Stephen Breyer (77), Antonin Scalia (79), Anthony Kennedy (79), and Ruth Bader Ginsburg (82).  So, presidential candidates should explain the criteria by which they would select judicial nominees.

State Makes Gains Against Fruit Flies in South Florida

Florida is on the way to eradicating the largest outbreak of Oriental fruit flies in the state's history, an agriculture official told a Senate panel Tuesday.

Since Aug. 26, a record 165 of the voracious insects have been found in part of Miami-Dade County that is mainly agricultural land, with an estimated 2,000 growers, nurseries and other businesses affected.

Needle Exchange Pilot Deserves to Fly in 2016

A House Committee moved a proposal forward Tuesday that would create a pilot needle-exchange program in Miami-Dade County -- and, frankly, if it goes the distance in the coming session, this is a program that could benefit the whole state, not just South Florida.
