Rick Scott, Seminole Tribe Sign Tentative $3 Billion Gaming Pact

After an ambitious effort to revamp Florida's mental-health treatment system died at the end of the last legislative session, state officials are readying a new round of proposals for 2016.

Gov. Rick Scott has proposed an increase of $19 million for mental-health and substance-abuse treatment services in his recommended budget for the next fiscal year, with the lion's share going to treat people with mental illnesses in the community instead of in a state-run institution.

Florida Congressional Representatives Protest Hungary Honoring of Nazi Collaborator

As two of the co-chairs of the  Bipartisan Taskforce for Combatting Anti-Semitism, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., and U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., signed on a letter to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán regarding a monument to a Nazi collaborator.

Adam Barringer Makes Congressional Ballot by Petition

Former New Smyrna Beach Mayor Adam Barringer announced on Monday that he had made the ballot by petition as he continues his bid for the Republican nod to replace U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., in Congress. DeSantis is running for the U.S. Senate in 2016.
