Marco Rubio Takes Up Carlos Curbelo's Cuban Immigrant Work Opportunity Act in the Senate

On Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., the chairman of the U.S. Senate Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, announced he would be the Senate sponsors of the “Cuban Immigrant Work Opportunity Act” which ensues only refugees and asylees from Cuba can enter the Refugee Resettlement Program instead of residents of that island. 

Vern Buchanan: Senate Needs to Pass Bill Banning Syrian Immigrants

After reports emerged that the terrorist behind the bombing in Istanbul which claimed ten lives was a Syrian national who fled into Turkey, U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., called on the U.S. Senate to pass a bill freezing Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. until security is improved. The House passed that measure in November.

After Obama spoke on Tuesday night, Republicans from the Sunshine State lined up against it, hitting the White House on a number of fronts.
