Charlie Crist Opposed to Gay Adoption Ban

June 16, 2010 - 6:00pm

Gov. Charlie Crist clarified on Thursday that he thinks judges ought to be allowed to decide on a case-by-case basis whether gay couples can adopt children rather than continuing a statewide ban, the only one in the nation.

I think thats a decision best left to judges, Crist said while speaking to a group of newspaper editors in Sarasota. A better law would be to allow judges to make that decision on a case-by-case basis.

TEA Partiers Falling From the Sky Into Key House Races: Beware Dean Cannon!

It's like a scene from the 1984 film "Red Dawn."

First we see one parachute drop to the ground, then two. Then more. And all of a sudden the sky is dark with foreign invaders falling on Florida, on our turf, in our back yard.

It's happening right now, and this time it's not foreign invaders.

It's TEA Partiers. The fake ones who masquerade as grass-roots conservatives but are anything but. They've been invading our Florida House races all day long. And not just any old races.

On Afghanistan, Fast-Forward

June 17, 2010 - 6:00pm

WASHINGTON -- Evidently Hamid Karzai did not get the memo on terminology. U.S. military commanders have stopped using the word "operation" to describe the drive, now delayed, against the Taliban in Kandahar, Afghanistan's second-largest city. This word connotes danger and stirs dread among the population, whose allegiance is the prize for which counterinsurgency is waged.
