The state Agency for Workforce just released the unemployment numbers for May. The unemployment rate dropped from 12 percent in April to 11.7 percent for May. While Floridas unemployment rate still far exceeds the national average, it is decreasing at a faster rate. The national figures went down from 9.9 percent in April to 9.7 percent in May.
A growing number of positive indicators, including an increase in job opportunities and a decline in the unemployment rate, provide continued evidence that the states economy is recovering, said Agency for Workforce Innovation Director Cynthia R. Lorenzo.
