Housing prices in Miami and Tampa hit their lowest levels in October since home prices started their downward cascade in 2006, a major housing market gauge reported Tuesday, providing more bad economic news in a state where recovery is sputtering behind the rest of the nation.

Sen. Mike Fasano Seeks Cuts in Retirement Benefits for Elected Officials

If the Florida Legislature is going to make up the $3.5 billion deficit facing the state by reducing spending, Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, thinks elected officials should start by cutting their own benefits.

Dems Target Allen West in 2012

U.S. Rep.-elect Allen West, R-Plantation, hasn't even been sworn in yet, but Democrats already think his seat is vulnerable in 2012.

Roll Call reports the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is going after House Republicans who won in 2010 with less than 55 percent of the vote and whose districts voted for President Barack Obama in 2008. West won Florida's Congressional District 22 with 54 percent of the vote in November. The same district voted for Obama with 52 percent in 2008.
