Gov. Rick Scott Welcomes Chinese Trade Delegation

A trade delegation from Rugao, China received a tour of Bing Energy's new Tallahassee headquarters Friday from none other than Gov. Rick Scott.

Bing Energy is planning on opening operations in Rugao, and Scott is pleased at the opportunity to highlight the relationship between the "sister cities" as a way to increase job creation in both areas.

Huijan Chen, the vice mayor of the Nantong Municipal Peoples' Government in Rugao's province, agreed.

Armed with Mike Huckabee's endorsement, U.S. Senate candidate Mike Haridopolos travels to Bradenton Tuesday to speak to a tea party group. Heated members say he has some explaining to do.

Coming off a tumultuous state Senate session that disappointed conservatives, Haridopolos will need more than the religiously good wishes of Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor and 2008 presidential hopeful who hasn't always rung the tea party bell.

Ron Paul Jumps into 2012 Race

In Exeter, N.H., on Friday, U.S. Rep. Ron Paul announced that he was making a second stab at winning the Republican presidential nomination.

Im so glad to see you involved in our revolution, said Paul. The revolution is spreading and our momentum is building. Our time has come.

Paul praised New Hampshire, home of the first presidential primary contest.

Erin Cullaro, Assistant Attorney General, Fired for Moonlighting at 'Foreclosure Mill'

She was reprimanded a year ago for working a second job with Tampa-based Florida Default Law Group, but that apparently didn't stop Erin Cullaro. The assistant attorney general carried on doing notary work for the suspected "foreclosure mill," Gov. Rick Scott's office got wind of it in March and now Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has terminated her.

Rep. Tom Rooney Questions Administration's Latest Doomsday Date on Debt Ceiling

With a Florida congressman among them, more Republicans are resisting Obama administration claims that immediate action is needed to raise the U.S. debt ceiling.

"When you say the drop-dead day is going to be in August, I question that," Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Tequesta, told the Wall Street Journal.

Rooney, whose quote appeared on the WSJ's front page Friday morning, is speaking out with other skeptical congressman who say the administration has lost credibility by shifting debt-ceiling deadlines.

Florida Universities Prepare to Slash Budgets

State universities are once again having to comb their budgets and look for ways to slash millions to close shortfalls by early June.

Universities are facing an unappetizing buffet of budget-trimming choices after years of budget cuts have left some with what they say are bare-bones operations. On the table this year are tuition increases, cuts to merit-based aid, higher fees to out-of-state students, reductions in paid time off and the possible elimination of programs that have low enrollments.
