Only 20 Percent of New Texas Jobs Went to Native-Born Americans
With jobs and immigration likely topics of sharp debate at tonight's Republican debate in Orlando, a new report estimates that newly arrived immigrants have filled a majority of new jobs created in Texas, home to GOP front-runner Gov. Rick Perry.
"Of jobs created in Texas since 2007, 81 percent were taken by newly arrived immigrant workers (legal and illegal)," says the Center for Immigration Studies, a group that advocates reduced levels of both legal and illegal immigration.

Latest Q Poll Finds Bill Nelson Vulnerable in 2012
George LeMieux Climbs in Senate Poll; 58 Percent of GOP Still Undecided
Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson continues to lead all Republican challengers. But amid a high level of undecided voters, the GOP has cause for hope.
A Quinnipiac poll released Thursday reported that 44 percent of Floridians surveyed think Nelson deserves a second term, versus 34 percent who say he doesn't.
Among Republicans, 58 percent said they are undecided, with former Sen. George LeMieux at 17 percent, followed by businessman Mike McCalister with 11 percent.

Rick Perry Reels in the Backing of Another Prominent Florida Republican
Add another name to the list of prominent Florida Republicans backing the presidential bid of Gov. Rick Perry of Texas -- Van Poole.
Poole led the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) 1989 to 1993 and served in the state Senate as minority leader and leader pro tempore. He currently works for Dutko Poole McKinley in Tallahassee.
