Mitt Romney Leading in New Hampshire With Ron Paul in Second, Jon Huntsman in Third

While Texas Gov. Rick Perry is leading the field of Republican presidential hopefuls in most national polls, New Hampshire -- home of the first primary -- is solidly behind former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts.

According to a Suffolk University/7NEWS (WHDH TV)poll of likely Republican primary voters released late on Wednesday, Romney was routing the field in the Granite State. Romney took 41 percent of those surveyed with U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas in second with 14 percent. Former Gov. Jon Huntsman of Utah stood in third with 10 percent.

Rick Perry Leading Mitt Romney in Florida, But Romney Beats Increasingly Unpopular Barack Obama

Heading into Florida's Presidency 5 summit, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a small lead over the Republican presidential pack in the state, with 28 percent, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 22 percent, a Quinnipiac Poll said Thursday.

Romney has barely moved since he led the Florida GOP field with 23 percent in Quinnipiac's Aug. 4 survey, while Perry has surged from 13 percent in that survey conducted before he formally announced his candidacy.

Citing "ongoing compliance deficiencies," Gov. Rick Scott has put Workforce Central Florida on two weeks' probation and threatened to shut the agency down if it did not remove its top executives.

"In recent years, the leadership of WCF has engaged in a series of activities that require this unprecedented, but necessary, action. Ongoing fiscal and compliance deficiencies have caused continuing concern about WCF's internal controls and its management," Scott wrote in a letter to Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs.

Felon-Hiring Case Highlights Discontent in Department of Revenue

The hiring of a convicted felon at the Florida Department of Revenue is just the tip of a bureaucratic iceberg rife with cronyism, sources inside the department say.

Sunshine State News revealed this week that Deon McCrimmon was hired by the department seven months after pleading guilty to a felony count of wire fraud in Georgia. The federal indictment said McCrimmon illicitly concealed an IRS back-tax bill of $139,169 and inflated her income when she applied for a home loan.

Gov. Rick Scott Puts Hammer Down on Workforce Central Florida

Citing "ongoing compliance deficiencies," Gov. Rick Scott has put Workforce Central Florida on two weeks' probation.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the governor's office said, "If, at the end of the probation, WCF has not met certain requirements, the state will begin the decertification process."
