Rick Scott Hails Colt Plant Planned for Osceola County

Gov. Rick Scott announced Thursday that Colt Manufacturing, the maker of the famous Colt .45, the M-16 and other guns, will open a new regional headquarters and manufacturing facility in Osceola County.

The facility over the next three years will create 63 jobs paying an average of more than $45,000. Scott and M. William Keys, Colt Manufacturing president, made the announcement near Kissimmee.

Newt Gingrich Doubles Up Mitt Romney to Lead National Poll

A national poll released on Thursday found that former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich holds a commanding lead in the fluid race to see which Republican candidate will emerge to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012.

A Rasmussen Reports poll of likely Republican primary voters has Gingrich way out in front with 38 percent followed by former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts in second with 17 percent.
