A Quinnipiac University poll released Monday finds former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts with a solid lead in Florida over the rest of the pack running for the Republican presidential nomination.
Former Gov. Buddy Roemer of Louisiana has one of the busiest schedules of any of the candidates for the Republican nomination in the final hours before the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday. He has almost a dozen campaign events and media appearances scheduled for Monday -- but he also is playing up his ties to his home state.
Roemer will be hosting an event on Monday night to watch the LSU Tigers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide for the national college football title in Durham on Monday night.

Florida is not exactly Ron Paul country. The maverick Texas congressman garnered less than 3.5 percent when he ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008. He should do better in 2012 based on early polls, though his campaign is signaling they dont intend to put up much of a fight in the Sunshine State which holds it primary on Jan. 31 -- after New Hampshire votes on Tuesday and after South Carolina has its say on Jan. 21.

Legislation has been introduced to create a "Patient's Compensation System" to handle medical malpractice claims in Florida.
Sen. Alan Hays, R-Umatilla, and Rep. Jimmy Patronis, R-Panama City, are sponsoring Senate Bill 1588 and House Bill 1233 to replace current malpractice litigation with a process that supporters estimate will eliminate up to $40 billion per year of "medically unnecessary medical costs."

The Christian Family Coalition says it will support two bills to allow school prayer and restrict abortion.
