Networks, Web Quickly Declare Romney the Primary Victor

The networks wasted no time in declaring former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney the Florida GOP Presidential Preference Primary winner.

The minute polls closed on the Panhandle at 8 p.m., CNN, Fox News, CNBC, ABC, NBC and CBS, as well as the Associated Press, declared Romney an easy winner in the contest for 50 delegates to the partys national convention.

The Drudge Report called the win a "landslide."

Huffington Post stated "Romney romp."

A federal appellate court on Tuesday upheld a 2010 constitutional amendment that attempts to ensure that congressional political districts are drawn fairly, rejecting an appeal backed by the Republican-led Florida Legislature.

Scott Suspends Southern Manatee Fire Commissioner

Gov. Rick Scott has suspended a commissioner of the Southern Manatee Fire and Rescue District who on Jan. 26 was charged with eight counts of sexual battery and lewd or lascivious molestation.

Mark D. Ruben, who was first elected to the district in 2000, was charged with molesting three children over seven years, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Adam Hasner Drops Senate Bid to Run for Allen West's Former Seat

Struggling in the polls, Adam Hasner pulled out of the U.S. Senate race Tuesday to run in a South Florida congressional district vacated by Rep. Allen West.

Hours earlier, West announced his move to Rep. Tom Rooney's district and Rooney shifted to a newly drawn district in south-central Florida. That left an opening for Hasner to run in West's district, which closely resembles the one Hasner represented in the Florida House.

Mike Haridopolos Looking for Votes for Prison Privatization

Senate President Mike Haridopolos needs to quickly bring a few more members of his chamber into the pro-prison privatization camp if he wants a successful vote on the controversial proposal Wednesday afternoon.

But with at least 10 Republican senators either opposed or undecided on Senate Bill 2038, which would outsource 28 correctional facilities in Central and South Florida, the Merritt Island Republican said he isnt going to be twisting arms following a contentious floor session Tuesday.
