Nancy Argenziano Drops Congressional Bid to Challenge State Rep. Jimmie Smith

Nancy Argenziano has pulled out of the 2nd congressional race to run for Florida House in her Citrus County home.

The former Public Service Commission chairman and retired state senator opted to drop her challenge to U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland, R-Tallahassee. Argenziano acknowledged that her failure to win a court challenge seeking to run as a Democrat figured in her decision.

"I was the best chance to get crossover votes in that district. But it's hard to get millions of dollars" as an independent, Argenziano told Sunshine State News.

Mitt Romney Builds Momentum with Jeb Bush's Endorsement

With a big win in the Illinois primary Tuesday, Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney built momentum on Wednesday to be the GOP challenger to Barack Obama in November, winning the key endorsement of former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida -- and drawing fire from the Democrats.

Romney won Illinois with 47 percent, while Rick Santorum was in second with 35 percent. Ron Paul took third with 9 percent, followed by Newt Gingrich with 8 percent.

Senate to Randomly Draw Balls to Assign District Numbers

The Senate Reapportionment Committee will hold a random drawing to determine how to number the Senate districts for the next decade.

Senate Majority Leader Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, and Senate Minority Leader Nan Rich, D-Sunrise, will have the secretary of the Senate oversee a drawing today to randomly draw numbers that could be used as place holder district numbers for the revised map that the full Senate will vote on Thursday, said committee Chairman Don Gaetz, R-Niceville.

Gov. Rick Scott gave his blessing to former University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow wearing a Jacksonville Jaguar jersey next year.

Ron Paul Looks to Turn Things Around in Louisiana

Newt Gingrich Vows to Remain in GOP Race Until Tampa Convention

Despite placing fourth in the Illinois Republican primary on Tuesday, Newt Gingrich said in a statement on Wednesday that he intends to stay in the race until the Republican convention in Tampa. Gingrich also insisted that Mitt Romney is only leading the race because he was burying his opponents in spending.

After Illinois Win, Romney Looks to November -- and So Does the DNC

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney scored a big win in Illinois on Tuesday night and looked to focus on Barack Obama instead of his GOP rivals -- and the Democrats are starting to fire back on him.

With 99 percent of the votes in, Romney had 47 percent while Rick Santorum was in second with 35 percent. Ron Paul took third with 9 percent followed by Newt Gingrich with 8 percent.

In his victory remarks on Tuesday night, Romney ripped into Obama.
