Obamacare Sends Little-Known Shiver Down College Loan Borrowers' Backs

Obamacare has inadvertently caused problems to as many as 1 million college loan borrowers so far -- as if students don't have enough to worry about.

The Department of Education has been transferring large batches of federal student loans to new loan-servicing companies --leaving in the lurch some borrowers who are suddenly encountering problems with their loans, such as payments that are mysteriously adjusted up or down.

Tim Pawlenty Takes His Name Out of the Hat, Pushes Marco Rubio for Mitt Romney's VP

Appearing on Americas Newsroom on Fox News on Tuesday, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty talked up U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., to be Mitt Romneys running mate.

Having come close to ending up on the 2008 ticket as John McCains running mate, Pawlenty, who had been in the Republican presidential race before pulling out after a disappointing third-place finish in the Iowa GOP straw pollin August, insisted he has no interest in being paired up with Romney.

With the General Services Administration under fire for a costly event held at the M Resort in Las Vegas back in 2010 on the taxpayers dime, a congressman from Florida introduced a measure on Tuesday to slash federal travel funds.

From his perch on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee and as chairman of the Federal Workforce, Postal Service and Labor Policy Subcommittee, U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross, a freshman Republican, unveiled the Government Spending Accountability Act.

Adam Putnam: Drought Straining Florida’s Water Needs

A tropical storm might even be welcome, but not a hurricane.

Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam said Tuesday the entire states water resources will continue to be tested throughout the spring and summer due to the ongoing drought conditions.

It obviously impacts your ag needs and urban supply needs, Putnam said at the start of the state Cabinet meeting in the Capitol. Weve got springs going dry in the Suwannee Valley.

Newt Gingrich Doubles Down on Delaware

With only 17 delegates to the Republican convention in Tampa come August, Delaware is the smallest prize on the table on Tuesday when five states in the Northeast -- the others are Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island -- hold presidential primaries. But the Blue Hen State may host the most important of those five contests.

Ron Paul Looks to Rebound in Texas

While he has been on the Texas political stage for more than three decades, Ron Paul has not fared well in the Lone Star State when he has made his two past previous presidential bids. Now making his third try for the White House -- and second attempt at the Republican presidential nomination -- Paul has turned his eyes to Texas which will bring 155 delegates to the GOP convention in Tampa come August. Texas holds its primary on May 29.

During the hearing of a case -- an election case, ironically -- a state employee walked into the courtroom and handed Justice Charles Canady a note.The court recessed in the middle of testimony in the redistricting case.
