Barack Obama has trouble telling the truth.
The gloves came off on Wednesday as U.S. Rep. Sandy Adams ripped into fellow Florida Republican U.S. Rep. John Mica. The two square off in a primary contest on Aug. 14 in a rare battle between two congressional incumbents.
Adams took aim at Mica on earmarks on Wednesday, insisting that he was a strong supporter of them.

A stubborn and deadly outbreak of tuberculosis in the Jacksonville area is prompting Florida to team up with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to battle the disease, but state health officials insist the situation is under control.
The TB outbreak is linked to 13 deaths and nearly 100 illnesses since 2004, mainly among homeless people. It's estimated about 3,000 people have been exposed to the contagious disease.
Floridas top economists expect the modest growth in the economy to slow in coming years as the European crisis escalates and Congress and the White House -- almost regardless of the occupant -- remain divided on long-range fiscal plans.
For legislators in the Sunshine State, that could mean a reduction in revenue when they begin to craft the states next fiscal plan in 2013 -- with totals even lower in subsequent years.
On Tuesday, the U.S. House Ethics Committee vote unanimously -- by a 9-0 vote -- to dismiss allegations raised against U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., on personal finance ethics violations. While the committee did find that Buchanan had committed errors on financial disclosure statements, it ruled that these were not major enough to punish the Florida congressman. Expect Florida once again to be the political frontline in November as a new poll shows a tight contest between President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney to take the 29 Electoral College votes in the Sunshine State.
A poll of likely Florida voters taken by Rasmussen Reports shows that Romney takes 46 percent of those surveyed while Obama is right on his heels with 45 percent. While 4 percent remain undecided, 5 percent say they plan on backing other candidates in the race.
