The Florida Chamber of Commerce has endorsed John Couriel for the Florida Senate District 35 seat held long-serving South Florida legislator Sen. Gwen Margolis, D-Miami.
John Couriel understands that to secure Floridas future, businesses need the ability to grow and all Floridians deserve a cost-effective, market-minded and fiscally responsible government, David Hart, executive vice president for the Florida Chamber of Commerce, stated in a release.

Rick Scott: ‘No Anticipating' a GOP Convention Cancelation
After discussing Tropical Storm Isaac with state storm leaders and convention hosts, Gov. Rick Scott said late Thursday morning that there are no plans to cancel the Republican National Convention.
Were so many days out, we have a plan in case there is a hurricane, Scott told the media while at Floridas Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee just before noon on Thursday.
Were hoping it continues to go west and dissipates.
Primary Results Now Official
On Thursday, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Secretary of State Ken Detzner, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and Attorney General Pam Bondi, sitting as the Elections Canvassing Commission, approved the Aug. 14 primary results.
Scott, Detzner and Atwater were in the Cabinet meeting room in the Capitol. Bondi attended by phone.

Connie Mack, Marco Rubio Get Closing-Night Stage Time at GOP Convention

At a time when the nation's eyes will be on the Sunshine State for the Republican National Convention, state leaders and National Hurricane Center Officials are tracking the potential paths of Tropical Storm Isaac.
The system is making its way toward the Florida Keys, Tampa and the Panhandle at a rate that could put it in the Gulf of Mexico near Tampa at 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Gov. Rick Scott said Florida, which has a long history of dealing with hurricanes and tropical storms, is going to be prepared for Isaac.

Other big names on the list include, Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, House Speaker Dean Cannon, R-Winter Park, House Speaker-designate Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel, U.S. Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami, and U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Miami.
